GARBAGE COLLECTION
Garbage Cart Program
- SBC will provide weekly collection services for Westchester. Collection days will remain the same. Please see attached Schedule Map.
- The service includes (1) 95-gallon garbage toter and (1) 95-gallon recycling toter (with the option to downsize to a 35- or 65-gallon toter at no charge within 90 days, visit website for details.
- Carts used for this service have wheels, an attached lid, and a long handlebar.
- Pickup of (2) bulk items is offered each week at no extra charge.
- All items must be placed out for collection by 6 AM.
- Residents have the option to get (1) 35 gallon, (1) 65 gallon, or (1) 95 gallon toter for organics and/or yard waste at an additional cost. Fill out the contact form here.
RECYCLING COLLECTION
Learn About Our Recycling Program
The recycling program in Westchester entails the provision of a 95-gallon recycle cart for each home to enable unlimited weekly service. Garbage and recyclables are collected simultaneously on the same day. To ensure compliance, residents are required to use the carts issued by SBC before resorting to non-SBC cans. All materials for collection should be placed outside by 6 AM on the designated collection day.

BULK ITEMS
Bulk Item Program
BULK ITEMS are items that are too large to fit into your cart. SBC will collect (2) bulk item each week for no extra charge. Items are to be placed alongside your SBC cart(s). More than (2) bulk items require prior notification by contacting SBC at (312) 522-1115 or email Westchester@sbcwastesolutions.com.
EXAMPLES OF BULK ITEMS:
Table | Chair | Mattress | Bed Frame | Box Spring | Fixture | Toy Large Picture or Frame. A mattress or box spring must be secured in a plastic mattress cover for health and safety reasons. Mattress covers are available at hardware stores and other retail outlets.
CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS:
Debris from home projects may be placed in the SBC container or up to (8) 35-gallon, non-SBC containers (two cubic yards). Non-SBC containers may not weigh more than 50 pounds when full. Construction materials cannot exceed four feet (4’) in length/width whether it is containerized or bundled. Carpet is accepted as construction debris and may be placed out tied in rolls, bundled or containerized so long as containers do not exceed the above descriptions for maximum capacity, length, width, and weight. For items that do not meet the bulk item or construction debris guidelines, please contact SBC at (312) 522-1115 or email Westchester@sbcwastesolutions.com with a picture of your item(s) to inquire on a special collection.
ELECTRONIC WASTE
Some electronic waste can be disposed of through regular refuse collection, however, other e-waste is banned from Illinois landfills. SBC offers a special collection, at no extra charge, for these banned items, which must be pre-scheduled by contacting SBC at (312) 522-1115 or email Westchester@sbcwastesolutions.com.

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE PROGRAM:
SBC will collect household hazardous waste at no extra charge, including household chemicals, automotive products, paint products, garden chemicals, universal materials, swimming pool chemicals, and electronics. This special pickup must be pre-scheduled by contacting SBC at (312) 522-1115 or email Westchester@sbcwastesolutions.com.
YARD WASTE COLLECTION GUIDELINES
Yard waste season begins April 1st and runs through the last full week of December each year (ending December 31st). SBC will collect yard waste material on the same day as garbage and recycling. Residents can rent a yard waste cart for an additional cost, or use their own personal cans for no extra cost (personal cans must have identifier sticker, available for free at Village Hall). All items must be placed out for collection by 6 AM.
NEW CARTS
• SBC will deliver a 95-gallon garbage & and 95-gallon recycle cart to each home beginning June 2024 (SBC cannot provide an exact date and time for new cart deliveries). Residents should start using the SBC cart as soon as they receive it.
• Residents have the option to downsize to a 35- or 65-gallon cart at no charge within 90 days by calling SBC at (312) 522-1115 or filling out the contact form here.
• Waste Management will collect previously used carts. WM carts must remain empty and left at the curb once the SBC cart is delivered.
• Residents can purchase additional trash or recycling carts for a one-time charge of $85 each. If you have previously purchased a WM cart, please contact SBC at (312) 522-1115 to have a free sticker applied to your cart or pay $35 to have the WM cart swapped for a new SBC cart.
• Additional Organics/Yard Waste carts are available for an extra charge of $12 (35-gal), $14 (65-gal), or $16 (95-gal) per month by calling SBC at (312) 522-1115 or Filling out the contact form here.

CHRISTMAS TREE COLLECTION
Beginning December 25th, Christmas trees are collected, for no extra charge, through the 2nd full week of January. Trees must be free of tinsel, lights, and ornaments. Trees should be placed next to your SBC cart(s).
SPRING CLEAN-UP EVENT
SBC and the Village are excited to introduce a new annual “Spring Clean-Up” event which will take place in April. This special collection will allow residents to dispose of a variety of bulk items, construction debris, yard waste, and other items – all at once! Full program details will be sent out as the event date approaches.
HOLIDAYS
Holiday service will be provided one day later than your regular collection day if the holiday falls on Sunday through Friday. If the holiday falls on a Saturday, or your collection day of the week occurs prior to the holiday, service will not be affected.
